Canadian government launches International Education Strategy

The Canadian International Trade minister Ed Fast launched a new International Education Strategy designed to attract more international researchers and students to Canada.

With 18 million Canadian dollars annually, Canada hopes to attract 450 000 more international students by 2020, bringing with it 86 500 new jobs and annual expenditure of international students up to 16 billion Can$. Key elements of the strategy include selection of a number of focus countries (Brazil, China, India, Mexico, North Africa and the Middle East and Vietnam), developing a Canada brand, and improving linkages and collaboration.
