In the University World News of January 16th, Jane Marshall from the University of Manchester gives a succinct overview of the various initiatives in France to catch up with the global development of MOOCs – massive open online courses – and establish itself as the leading francophone provider in the field. She points to increased invested by the Ministry of Education, and to already existing MOOC courses by the France Université Numérique, the Conservatoire national des Arts et Métiers, the Université Paris Ouest Nanterre La Défense, and Science Po Paris.
