On behalf of InsideHigherEd, Gallup has conducted a survey among faculty and administrators in US based HE institutions on the practices and perceptions among faculty and administrators towards online learning.
The survey shows that most faculty believe that online courses provide lower quality that face-to-face education and that institutional accreditation of the provider is crucial. Academic faculty attach less value than technology administrators to the question if the providing HE institution offers academic credit for the online courses it provides. A vast majority of the technology administrators feels that their HE institution doesn’t award techaing with technology in tenure and promotion decisions.
