Internationalizing the Curriculum – imagining new possibilities

In the online publications of the Journal of Studies in International Education JSIE, Betty Leask from the university of South Australia published a research report on internationalisation of the curriculum by academics from different disciplines such as (among others) Accounting, Journalism, Law, Medicine, and Social Sciences. In the article, internationalisation of the curriculum is understood as “the incorporation of an international and intercultural dimension into the content of the curriculum as well as the teaching and learning arrangements and support services of a program of study”.

She developed a 5-stage model as a tool for academics to internationalise their curriculum, in which the most difficult and most rewarding stage is where the academics break out of the “culture” of their own discipline.
