VU International News and Reviews No. 95 July 12 2017

July 2017

The Leiden CWTS Centre for Science & Technology Studies has published an analysis on the mental health of PhD candidates at Leiden University, after an earlier study in Flanders showed considerably higher mental health risks for PhD candidates than among similar segments of the population. The CWTS study shows the situation at Leiden University is even worse, with 38.3% of PhD candidates suffering from mental health problems, against 31,8 for Flemish PhDs and a mere 14.0% for the highly education general population in Flanders.
