On Thursday 7 March 2013, SID Netherlands has organised the conference The Future of International Cooperation in The Hague. It marked the closing of a lecture series at VU ‘Beyond ODA: towards a new perspective on international cooperation for development: new actors, new instruments’.
Speakers including Donald Kaberuka (African Development Bank), Sarah Cook (UNRISD), Pavan Sukhdev (GIST Advisory), and Pascal Lamy (WTO) reflected on and discussed recommendations for rethinking and transforming the development agenda. These Building blocks for international cooperation have been drafted based on discussions that took place in the fall of 2012 between representatives from government, civil society, science and businesses in the Netherlands. At the end of the day, conclusions were presented to Minister Ploumen, Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation.
