This month, Gallup published a poll on confidence in Higher Education in the US among Democrat and Republican voters. – which may reflect similar patterns in Europe. The results (based on a random sample of 1017 adults) show that while positive feelings about HE are similar among Democrats and Republicans, they have different reasons when negative about universities and colleges. While Democrats base their negative views mostly on the high costs of higher education in the US, Republic voters most often complain that Campuses are ‘too political’ and students are not allowed/taught to think for themselves.
Across the board, Democrat voters are much more positive about higher education than Republican voters.
