June 5, 2019
The Aurora Universities Network and the Amsterdam Sustainability Institute invites you to join us on World Environment Day, 5 June 2019, at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam for a lecture on SDG17: Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalise the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development.
SDG 17 aims to produce and maintain the necessary broader systemic conditions for implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Innovative multi-stakeholder partnerships will play a crucial role in getting us to where we need by the year 2030. However, critical voices have questioned the overall effectiveness of multi-stakeholder partnerships and the involvement of the private sector. How much power do companies have in the SDGs? What can we learn from previous experiences? What can be done to improve partnerships for sustainable development?
Watch this short video from Philipp to learn more about SDG 17 and get a glimpse of the content of the lecture.
If you are interested in these questions and how we can achieve the SDGs in a cooperative spirit, please join Philipp Pattberg, Professor of Transnational Environmental Governance and Policy and Director of the Amsterdam Sustainability Institute, on World Environment Day on the 5th of June. The lecture will be held in HG-08A00, between 10.30 and 11.30. We hope to welcome you there! If you cannot attend the lecture in person, it is also possible to follow the event via a Livestream.
